B. Clinical Presentation 1. Symptoms – Evidence of respiratory distress, tachypnea, oxygen desaturation, cyanosis 2. Oxygenation index (OI) a. Used as an indication of disease severity i. Relatively mild: OI of 15–25 ii. Moderate: OI of 25–40 iii. Severe: OI greater than 40 b. OI = (mean airway pressure x Fio2 x 100)/Pao2 3. ECHO findings – Right-to-left shunt across the ductus arteriosus or foramen ovale, tricuspid valve regurgitation as a result of elevated pulmonary vascular pressure, right ventricular hypertrophy
